Lugma by Noor Murad
I adore Middle Eastern food and have been following @noorishbynoor for a while (the hummus recipe on her insta is FOOLPROOF). This book is packed full of really tasty but simple recipes and the photography is gorgeous. A definite gift-giver
Best for... The home chef, the world traveler, or the person who hosts every gathering
The Creative Act by Rick Ruben
Im not sure if I can call myself a creative but i definitely live in the creative world and appreciate the process. I (shamefully) only recently discovered Rick Rubin and heard him talk about creativity on a podcast. I'm now absolutely sold on him and everything he says, so I'm very keen to get my hands on this guide to tapping into inspiration!
Perfect for... The artist, the entrepreneur, or anyone needing a mental reset for the New Year
The Pleasing Hour by Lily King
I'm desperate to read more of her work and recently read an interesting review that suggested Lily King is overlooked for big prizes (Booker / National etc) because she writes romance. Perhaps in a world where more women were nominated for these prizes, she would be up there? Keen to see...
Read if.. you love character depth, or have a book club looking for a great discussion.
Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
I honestly wasn't a fan of Normal People (loved the series not the book) or Conversations with Friends but i hear this is different and I'm willing to give her another shot. I hear she cant travel at the moment due to her public support of Palestine Action - I love someone who lives by their beliefs!
Ideal for... The curious literary reader, or lover of more commercial fiction
Uprooting by Marchelle Farrell
I feel like there is lots to relate to in this book if you're anything like me... migration - check, identity - check, gardening - check. And to top it off, she's a Trinidadian...
Great for... The memoir enthusiast, the gardener, or anyone questioning of heritage and belonging.
