EAT: Coco & Date, Galle Fort

We just discovered THE CUTEST little Bahraini cafe in Galle Fort! Its absolutely tiny so be prepared for cosy but the food is authentic and delicious and the tea is glorious. We thoroughly recommend the Arabian Granola Bowl (with dates, pistachio, walnuts & honey), the Zaatar Bread and Hummus and please please dont miss the Stuffed Dates. Everything is presented so well and the owners were lovely!

WATCHThe lost art of accomplishment without burnout

Love the concept of "Slow productivity". How about we dow fewer things at once, work at a natural pace and obsess over QUALITY (not quantity)? We sell a lot of productivity books so before you buy your next self helpy career driver...watch this short YouTube video. Its 6 mins long, give it a listen and you might save yourself hours... (will order the book in too!)

READ: Sri Lanka’s new literary voices in The Hindu

A little late to the game, but we were really pleased to see some recognition for some of the newer Sri Lankan authors hitting the scene in a big way. And an interesting observation of common themes such as post war challenges! We are really keen to balance this out as sometimes we feel the subject of civil war dominates writing today. Check out writers such as Vajra Chandrasekera for a refresh on topics

LISTEN: Christopher Ondaatje on Desert Island Discs

Following on from the burnout theme, loved listening to  Christopher Ondaatje talk about his change of lifestyle from running a huge publishing house (making millions) to travelling and discovering the world. His reflection on his life in Ceylon was really interesting in comparison to his brother Michael - especially if you have read "Running in the Family"
