Roots and Rivers
Roots and Rivers
ISBN: 9780578863245
Roots and Rivers is a penetrating journey into the complexities of womanhood, motherhood, and political activism. A memoir of a Sri Lankan Sinhala Tamil woman confronting the ghost of her past, the reality of her present, and the gifts for her future. This sinuous journey of poetry and prose carries the reader through the varied geopolitical ethnolinguistic landscapes of Sri Lanka, Mexico, and various parts of Turtle Island (United States of America).
A chronicling of life, inspirations, readings, teachings, tragedies, revulsions, redemptions, conversations, and chance encounters across continents. Roots and Rivers is a profoundly personal exploration of a woman challenging the status quo of expectations and peeling away; most often painfully, the layers of arriving at her most authentic self.
